Sweden: Gronalund

Founded in 1883, Gronalund is a relatively small amusement park on the water and next door to the ABBA Museum. It’s pretty psychedelic.

We stopped in a cafe to grab a drink after a long ride on one of these skinny trains

We realized it was attached to the gift shop for the ABBA Museum. I bought a few little things in the gift shop, but we didn’t go in the museum.

When you buy your tickets you get to choose two rides for the “jetpass,” an appointment for FOL I chose the Ghost Train and a rollercoaster that showed some kids on it so I figured it wouldn’t be so bad. We were late getting there and would have had to run to make it to the Mouse rollercoaster. Bob was like, “Let’s just forget that one. I don’t care.”

We went on the ghost train which was so weird. Some of the art wouldn’t be acceptable in the US. One of the frights was an open door with a man on the toilet.

Then Bob decided he did want to go on the Mouse rollercoaster but we had to wait in line.

There was this weird abandoned Asian-looking houseboat. I wondered if it had been a walk-through ride, or a restaurant. It looked so cool.

The entrance to the FunHouse had very steep stairs down the center, then stairs that alternated going up and down, almost making you do the splits. It not being the litigious US, there wasn’t a net or anything, so these steps could throw you to your death. I was videotaping the stairs to the right of me then had to hang on for dear life. I made it to the top only to find a surprise!

Then there were lots of things inside trying to break your ankle.

Most of the rides didn’t have lines. We went on a “Tunnel of Love” because it was all crazy elves baking and geometric sheep and stuff.
