Vancouver 2025: The Westin Bayshore

I had planned on going to Montreal this week to meet up with my cousin Maureen. Then Air Canada had a labor dispute and canceled my flight. Other airlines were charging $880 since the flight was a few days away. So I pivoted to Vancouver and found a flight on Flair for only $210. But then you have to pay for your seat, and your luggage, and honest to God, “Help with lost luggage $5.50.” So it ended up being almost $500. The employees are super nice and let me take on a carry on that clearly didn’t fit and walked me to the front of the passenger line. And their seats were extra wide with lots of leg room.

Hotels are $300-$400, but I have to remember the exchange rate is .75 so I can take 25% off of all prices. Still, it added up. That’s another thing about last-minute trips. The only hotels left are super posh or at the airport. I got a room at the Westin Bayshore for two nights. The view was awesome and the bed was soft.

I was surprised that the sliding glass doors opened. Other countries trust people way more than America does.

The airports are so big now, I walked 2 1/2 miles in the airports alone and I was burned out, so I ordered room service and crashed early. The balsamic pasta with burrata was kind of weird, but filling, and I could only eat about a third of it.

Then I slept so well.
